How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different because I currently own a dairy cow which I would not have managed to buy on my own cost. One of my future goals was to have at least a good source of income. I feel GiveDirectly has fulfilled this since I will be selling milk as these cows reproduce. I also acquired new beddings through this transfer and replaced the old and worn out beddings I have been using for years. I purchased new wooden beds and mattresses for my family. It's a great joy to me because I now have comfortable beddings and also my children unlike before GiveDirectly came to us.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has directly impacted our lives. I am old and feel good to own a cow and a water tank assets that I need the most at my age. Look at what GiveDirectly has done in my community, I just thank them a lot and urge them to continue with the same spirit.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I am growing older and older and getting less energetic to carry on with daily chores. We receive low rainfalls in our areas thus getting clean water through our the year has been a challenge. When I received my second transfer I used part of it to buy a water tank. I greatful for the support since I currently enjoy clean water at my door step. We had been facing food shortage in our family due to previous poor yields thus I spend the larger amount of my second transfer on household basic needs and items.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life has drastically changed since I no longer depend on my children to give me money to use in buying food and milk anymore as I used before. I was able to be independent after buying my dairy cow which has enabled me to sell some milk and use the money to purchase what I need and this makes me so happy.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 10.00 am in the morning as I was relaxing when my son came to me and inquired if I had received the money promised to us by GiveDirectly since most people in the village had gotten theirs. I then requested him to check it for me since I did not know how to. After confirming that I had also received, I was so happy and I immediately started singing praising God for His blessings unto my family and the entire village since I knew that its through this money that my life was going to change.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have been buying milk on a daily basis and this is expensive owing to the fact that I do not have an income and have always depended on what my children give to me. Whenever I do not have money to buy milk, I was forced to take porridge prepared from white maize flour and it's of low nutritional quality. When I received my first transfers, I decided to use part of it to buy a dairy cow so that I would relieve my children the burden of having to give me money to use in buying milk almost every day. Since I did not have some seats in my living room, I used part of the remaining amount of my transfers to purchase some seats. This will always make me more comfortable welcoming visitors into my home unlike before. I also used the remaining amount in the purchase of a water tank so as to use it to store water during rainy season.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money will significantly help me and my family - it means that my grandchild (whom I have been solely educating) will definitly complete his college studies.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at the dawn when I wake up feeling healthy and strong. This motivates me for the rest of the day, and I return all the glory to God.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
About 20 years ago, I lost my husband. Accordingly, I never imagined I could manage to sustain my family - it seemed that the world was coming to and end because he (my husband) was the primary breadwinner. Luckily, God has been on my side - I have managed to fend for my family since then. Hence, the lose of my husband serves as the biggest challenge I have faced in life.
