Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received transfers from Give Directly I felt so happy. I knew indeed the dream of having a new house shall come true. Again I was over joyed as I had never gotten such an amount before.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest diffefernce is the happiness when I got to build a iron roofed house. I use to fetch drinking water from my neighbours who were privileged to have built iron roofed houses before us. Sometimes I would feel embarrassed to turned away when I go to fetch water from their homestead. My life is different from how it would have been had I never received the transfer because I now have access to clean water. I use the money to construct a better house which also act as a water catchment for my family. The harvested rainwater we use it for domestic purposes and to drink. Due to this, I no longer go to the river to fetch water for use nor get ashamed being denied access to fetch water from my neighbours water tank.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Before Give Directly came into our village, I was living in a grass touched house. After being enrolled, I promise to build a good house which is made of iron roofed. After I got my transfers, I bought the building materials and within a few days the house was ready. I am happy that this organization made it possible for me to achieve my dream of owning a better house. The remaining portion of my transfers, I spent on buying some clothes for my children and also some food items for the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
The hut that my family lives in was built over 30 years ago.The grass roofing has worn off and during rainy seasons it leaks leaving my family to seek shelter at a neighbour's.I will use this money to build another house for my family and also buy food and other basic needs that my children may have
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time when I have completed my casual jobs for the day and with the little money I have earned ,I manage to buy some foodstuff and prepare my children the only meal of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I hqve faced is raising my family of eight in this area where there is hardly any job to provide an income.Aside from that,we have a small piece of land but prolonged droughts have never allowed us to grow enough food for the family. We have therefore had to depend on my husband's casual job which pays very little and this has been quite a challenge
