How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much vibrant and lively compared to the past. I bought livestock and also cleared all my debts. In return I repossessed my piece of land that had been attached for a loan I secured. I was at the verge of losing that piece of land. However, I am happy that I was able to repossess it.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to send us cash transfers just as they promised.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second cash transfer was spent to purchase a cow worth UGX 800000. I paid off a debt worth UGX 640000. The remainder was spent on clothes.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Given the fact that my family is happy and exited as I was able to meet most of their needs using this transfer, this alone makes a biggest difference in my daily life since I am also happy and relieved from a lo of demands that I had almost failed to meet.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt so happy and lucky that I had at last held this money in my hands. This is because I always admired the villages and people that had got it and considered them so lucky.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy a cow at Ugx 900000. I used some money to treat my family. I then bought some household needs such as clothes, utensils, and cater for feeding. I am saving up Ugx 400000 for future needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving tho money means owning cows which will be an investment to the family. When these cows multiply, they will be a source of livelihood for the household and my children will attain better education in the future because some can be sold in order to raise fees which gives them a brighter future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is after lunch when I have eaten. It gives me happiness because I do more of hard labour which makes me tired and hungry. When I eat, I start to gain the energy after getting satisfied.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship in my household is lack of a clear source of income. I basically rely on farming but I own only an acre of farm land which I not enough to care of my family's needs. My children hardly stay at school for a full term before they are sent out of school due to inability to pay off school fees which affects their academic performance.
