Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. Never before had I received such an amount of money in my entire life. I felt so happy knowing that the plans that I had had for sometime were no longer going to remain as just plans but were going to be actualized and change our living standards as a family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the newly built house that I have been able to construct.I was living in a very small grass thatched house that had a leaking roof and which was making it quite uncomfortable for my family to stay in. After receiving this transfer, I have been able to construct a timber house with an iron roof and which has made me feel so proud as a parent. We are now living in a very decent house courtesy of GiveDirectly transfers.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used part of my first transfer to build a timber house and the remaining amount was used to pay school fees and buy other basic household needs for the family. We were living in a very small grass thatched house that had its roof leaking but since we could not afford to accumulate enough money that was enough to build a new house we could onlu look forward to accumulating enough money and build one. We were lucky to have been part of the beneficiries in GiveDirectly program and we made it a priority to build a new house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will not only be able to pay school fees for my children, but I will also build a better house and buy a water storage tank for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am taking supper with my family. It gives me a sense of fulfilment to see the smiles on their faces as we eat.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship currently is lack of finances to pay for school fees for my children. I normally rely on selling milk but currently the prices have dropped from 30 shillings to 20 shillings due to high supply.
