Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was so happy when I saw the message that I had received the money that I had been promised by Give Directly. In fact, at that time I had lose hope for life as a lot was bothering me but all changed when I got the money as I knew that it will change my life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is the heifer that I currently own. I used the transfers to buy a heifer for future milk production. By the time I received the first transfer, I had sold all the cows on my farm to pay school fees for my children. When the heifer will calve,I will be selling the surplus milk and using some milk for household needs so that I stop buying from neighbours. GiveDirectly has set me off on a better course of life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent the money I received on buying a heifer. The heifer is approaching calving stage and this makes me very happy. I had sold all the cattle which I had to raise money for paying school fees for my children. I then bought a water tank to store rain water inside my house. With the remaining amount,I needed to pay school fees for my child in a secondary school. I finally bought some clothes for my children and myself.

Clearing school fees arrears for my children in secondary school, buying a dairy cow for milking as well as buying a 2000 litre water tank for harvesting rain water is what receiving this money means to me.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Having successfully achieved my set goals of the day and back home to rest makes evening the happiest part of my day
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Prolonged drought as well as crop pests and diseases in this area, has been the greatest hindrance to development in my family. I spend most of the proceeds i earn from engaging in menial jobs in people's farms buying food for my family hence i struggle hard paying school fees for my four children in school. As a result, i always find myself piling up debts from neighbours hence i have never engaged myself in income grnerating projects. This is the biggest hardship i face
