I used to hate evenings and rainy seasons because they used to remind me what poverty can put you through but now, I can smile when darkness is approaching and loves it when it rains. My muddy one roomed nylon covered house which serves us as kitchen, bedroom and living was slowly crumpling and I couldn't help it. I wished to have somewhere decent and comfortable to call home but my husband who the primary earner and is taxi driver earning KES 300 per day couldn't afford to accumulate enough money to build a house because he had so many bills to pay. When I was enrolled in the program, my major goal was built a house and open a local green grocery business. When I received my first transfer, I constructed a house structure and I was looking forward to buy iron sheets with the second transfer. When I received my second transfer, I used KES 32000 to roof my house, KES 9000 to start a business, KES 6000 to buy livestock and KES 6000 to buy food.

It was around 9 in the morning when I was just relaxing, having good times with my family when my phone started vibrating. Since my souse was using the phone, I asked him to check who it could be. On checking, he realized that it was an Mpesa message from Segovia Technology. I had anxiously been waiting for this and I couldn't hold my joy at all. I finally knew that I would achieve a lot through the cash and without wasting time we started planning on how best we could utilize the cash appropriately.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am happier and hopeful because I now have assets to depend on in case of a financial crisis in terms of goats. This has been my dream to own them for quite a long time but I supervision afford to buy even one. I settled for them because they mature very fast, they require minimal supervision also they reproduce twice a year. Through this, I am positive that the poverty life that I have been undergoing for years shall come to an end. Also as they reproduce and multiply. I will be able to sell some to invest the money in some other projects like starting a kiosk business. In addition since my spouse and I rely on temporary jobs, we are planning to save part of the money from the sale of the goat for our children's fees once they join the school. Also, I will be able to cater to the family's basic needs effectively which has been a challenge because I had nothing to rely on before.

I spent part of my first transfer on buying livestock more so three goats at KES 9000. I have been yearning to own them for years but I couldn't afford them because of the financial hardships that I was facing, I couldn't afford it. In addition, I bought twelve pieces of iron sheets at KES 12000, the constructing poles at KES 4000, nails, timber, and the labor charge at a total of KES 5000. I bought all these to build a new house because the previous one was almost collapsing and it was very small. Also, I bought new clothes for my children and me and which were to replace the previous old ones. With the remaining amount of money, I bought enough foodstuffs for the family and cater for some other household items.
