My life has really changed compared to how I used to live before. As per now, my children are able to continue with their education smoothly, than when they could be sent back home for school fees, stayed home and definitely missed lessons and even exams. We have merry go round meetings where we normally meet at every member's home twice in a month. Since I did not have chairs in my house, I could beg chair from my neighbours who later could gossip around the village on my poverty. I was ashamed to take up the meeting as a result of that. Now I have confidence because I bought good chairs and that has redeemed my social dignity.

GiveDirectly has empowered our people in poverty reduction by giving us power to manage and spend the resources unconditionally. I have realized the ability and potential of our people and noticed that poor community can be economically liberated. I witnessed how our people were putting the resources into good use like building decent houses, paying school fees for their children's education, while others engaged themselves in agribusiness as well as other income generating activities and I was impressed. In the other hand GiveDirectly should monitor on how their money is used and give more funds to those who have put the transfer into good use.

I spent my second transfer in renovation of my house, this is due to the fact that my house was in poor condition since it was mud walled house. As a result, my children used to suffer from pneumonia in many occasions mostly during rainy seasons because of coldness and I was spending a lot of money on medication for the family. Now I am able to spend such money on other development projects like poultry keeping which I have already started. I also bought sofa sets since i did not have any chair and this resulted to societal disgrace and shame whenever i had some visitors in the house. As per now, I have got courage and interact confidently with community members and have developed social worth because of that.

The biggest difference in my daily life is seeing my children stay in school without being sent out for school for not paying their fees.

The moment I received money, I felt so happy. I have never handled such an amount in my entire life.

I spent my first transfer on paying school fees for my children who are in secondary and college respectively. I owed their school some arrears so I thought of clearing their arrears. Some part of the money I spent on buying furniture for my living room and the rest on repariring my house.
