How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Before receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly and even right after I started receiving, life was still hard and meeting all the life requirements which ranged from paying of school fees to availing all the household goods was not easy. I would always resort to selling assets and other investments which included livestock. This went on for sometimes before we regained our financial stability. Currently, things are really different in that I am no longer selling assets and livestock in order to meet our daily requirements. The streaming monthly transfers from GiveDIrectly have really cushioned us a great deal and we are happy that the ongoing projects are running smoothly.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Currently, I don't have any additional goal since payment of rent for my three children is still on and will still be on for the next three years. Starting another project with the same money has not been easy since we usually combine with my wife and pay it all in full to enable them to study well without any external disturbance by their landlords.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly every month has really been an uplift in the projects we have been running in our household. We have been able to accomplish a lot with this money and we are really grateful. There have been many differences registered in my life but the biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is my ability to clear the rental fees for my two sons and a daughter in the university. The payment has been so easy since the transfers have been coming in at the right time when the rental fee is required.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to see my son who is currently in his final year in University to ave completed his studies. This will be a great relief since I will now be concentrating on the remaining two who are still in University. So far I am grateful to GiveDirectly for the great help they have been giving us over time.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different in many positive ways due to these transfers but the most significant of all is the fact that I am now able to balance between paying school fees for my children and meeting most of my family's needs without having to struggle like I used to do before. I have also been able to start small family investments like poultry keeping which I am sure shall be of great help going forward.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional plans for the next four months is to start a poultry keeping project. The poultry project is a project that does not require much capital to start and I am looking forward to starting it. It shall assist us as a family in being able to meet most of our basic needs even after the transfers has been stopped. When the project finally picks up then we can start making other valuable family investments.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now able to buy most of my family's basic needs unlike before. Initially, it was quite difficult for me to meet my daily needs as well as paying school fees without having to strain with the limited sources of income for me. GiveDirectly transfers have greatly helped me in meeting most of my needs and all my pension has been diverted to paying school fees for my children. Having my children stay home because of lack of school fees is now a thing of the past and I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the timely help that they offered to us. I have also been able to get things on credit from the local shops whenever I run short of them and with no cash. I can always convince the shop keeper to give me items that I need and pay for them once I get the transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I expect my life to change in that my poultry keeping project shall have picked up and giving returns. I am well aware that GiveDirectly transfers shall come to an end in the next eight months and this project shall enable me sustain the income that I have been receiving from GiveDirectly and be able to improve my life and that of my family even more.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that my children are no longer sent home to collect school fees. Their performance has really improved so well because they dedicate most of their time in their studies. I no longer struggle so much like I had to do before to pay school fees on time.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goals for my life for the next four months is to start poultry keeping project. This project will earn me an income by selling eggs at the center near home. I will save the income to meet additional basic needs and even pay school fees for my children.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current is that I pay school fees on time unlike before where my children could be sent home to collect school fees and this was affecting their performance in school. When I started receiving the money, my children are no longer sent home to collect school fees. They spent most of their time in school and the performance has improved. I used to get some small pension from the Teachers service commission, but this was not enough to pay for all my children school fees and also to buy basic needs for my family. My family is now happy because we have enough food in the store and also my children are all in school. We are so grateful for the support.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have bought a dairy cow. This project will able me to reduce the cost of buying milk daily. I will be in a position to save some amount to meet other expenses and even expand my poultry keeping project.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i am facing at the moment is little income or little funds. There are many children i am educating currently, some in high school and others in colleges and they all require funds for their education and upkeep. But i have few sources of income that is barely enough to educate them and feed the rest of my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is during the morning hours after i have woken and taken my breakfast and in good health. That is when i plan my day ahead. Not every has that priviledge of waking up with a healthy body.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I will use my transfers to improve my poultry farming. I want to build a bigger poultry house/structure and buy more chicken and do a serious poultry farming. This will help in the long run to pay fees for my children in various institutions. This money will also come in handy to buy foodstuff for my family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
One thing i am proud of is being a teacher by prodffession. I am a retired teacher right now but i was able through teaching to buy this piece of land that we are right now. The piece of land has enabled me keep cows and feed my family. So i am happy i was able to save and buy this piece of land.
