How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Before receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly and even right after I started receiving, life was still hard and meeting all the life requirements which ranged from paying of school fees to availing all the household goods was not easy. I would always resort to selling assets and other investments which included livestock. This went on for sometimes before we regained our financial stability. Currently, things are really different in that I am no longer selling assets and livestock in order to meet our daily requirements. The streaming monthly transfers from GiveDIrectly have really cushioned us a great deal and we are happy that the ongoing projects are running smoothly.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Currently, I don't have any additional goal since payment of rent for my three children is still on and will still be on for the next three years. Starting another project with the same money has not been easy since we usually combine with my wife and pay it all in full to enable them to study well without any external disturbance by their landlords.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Receiving the transfers from GiveDirectly every month has really been an uplift in the projects we have been running in our household. We have been able to accomplish a lot with this money and we are really grateful. There have been many differences registered in my life but the biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is my ability to clear the rental fees for my two sons and a daughter in the university. The payment has been so easy since the transfers have been coming in at the right time when the rental fee is required.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to see my son who is currently in his final year in University to ave completed his studies. This will be a great relief since I will now be concentrating on the remaining two who are still in University. So far I am grateful to GiveDirectly for the great help they have been giving us over time.

My additional plans for the next four months is to start a poultry keeping project. The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now able to buy most of my family's basic needs unlike before. Initially, it was quite difficult for me to meet my daily needs as well as paying school fees without having to strain with the limited sources of income for me. GiveDirectly transfers have greatly helped me in meeting most of my needs and all my pension has been diverted to paying school fees for my children. Having my children stay home because of lack of school fees is now a thing of the past and I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for the timely help that they offered to us. I have also been able to get things on credit from the local shops whenever I run short of them and with no cash. I can always convince the shop keeper to give me items that I need and pay for them once I get the transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I expect my life to change in that my poultry keeping project shall have picked up and giving returns. The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current is that I pay school fees on time unlike before where my children could be sent home to collect school fees and this was affecting their performance in school. When I started receiving the money, my children are no longer sent home to collect school fees. They spent most of their time in school and the performance has improved. I used to get some small pension from the Teachers service commission, but this was not enough to pay for all my children school fees and also to buy basic needs for my family. My family is now happy because we have enough food in the store and also my children are all in school. We are so grateful for the support.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i am facing at the moment is little income or little funds. But i have few sources of income that is barely enough to educate them and feed the rest of my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is during the morning hours after i have woken and taken my breakfast and in good health. That is when i plan my day ahead. Not every has that priviledge of waking up with a healthy body.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I will use my transfers to improve my poultry farming. I want to build a bigger poultry house/structure and buy more chicken and do a serious poultry farming. This will help in the long run to pay fees for my children in various institutions. This money will also come in handy to buy foodstuff for my family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
One thing i am proud of is being a teacher by prodffession. I am a retired teacher right now but i was able through teaching to buy this piece of land that we are right now. The piece of land has enabled me keep cows and feed my family. So i am happy i was able to save and buy this piece of land.
