How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life is different from how it was in that, I have my monthly transfers which I can easily plan well and live according to my budget. I am happy that I can even have a budget because initially, I would spend according to what was needed most at that moment. As a farmer, the money has been helping me to expand my farming and buy the basic needs in my house. I feel good because the burden has greatly reduced. I am glad that most of my expenses are catered for and we are living a better life without taking loans or overworking ourselves with casual jobs.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to invest in farming. I want to concentrate on groundnut farming because it was what is mostly grown in this region and has high market demand. The profits are higher than other plants too. I have done my research and I think I am capable of doing this with the help of Give Directly transfers.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life ever since Give Directly came into our village is that I was able to finally buy a goat. I have wanted to buy a goat for a long time now but due to financial constraints, I was forced to postpone my plan of buying it. This is a big breakthrough for me because It is the most valued asset in this region. It is held with great value because of the benefits such as reproducing twice a year and it less demanding in terms of getting food, water or attention. It can basically flourish in any climatic condition. I plan to sell the goats in the future especially when met with emergencies. It can also come in handy when I need capital to start a new project.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my life to change in that most of my goals will have been accomplished. I am planning to increase household items such as seats. I had very few seats and I felt adding more would be of help. I will have also built an animal shed for my goats. Since they are expanding very fast I need to start thinking ahead being that currently, they are sleeping in one of the isolated rooms which is not up to standards and not safe either.
