My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers. I have a small business of selling maize at market. This business used to give me small profits. When I receive the second transfer from GiveDirectly I bought more stock. The business now is good, I nowadays get a good profit and I am able to meet all the basic needs of the family including paying school fees for my children in various schools. This season I was in a position to buy seeds and fertilizer. I also cultivated my farm and planted on time. When I had not received the transfers I could delay in planting because the money from my business could not meet all the household expenditure and including paying the farm workers. I am so grateful because I am sure of good harvest this coming season. My children Also will be in a position to study well without being sent home to collect the school fees like before. GiveDirectly had also enabled me to start a saving plan. I save the the money in my Mpesa for any emergency and also for future use.

GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses, buy dairy cows and other basic household needs .I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.

I spend the money I received from GiveDirectly to build a better house and the rest of the money I added stock to my business of selling maize at the market.

The biggest difference in my daily life is registration of clean piped water which wouldn't be possible before. I spent 140USD on high quality heifer because it will grow and I will be able to monitor it's growth because the two two dairy cows I have are of low quality hence low milk production. I foresee financial secure for my kids who are in school. I also spent 64USD on two maize sacks because we had been hungry for a long time and one can't work or sleep with an empty stomach. Initially, I used to rely on my job as a maize seller for the past twenty years. I also spent 80USD on family clothing and shoes and the rest on maize and bean seeds because it's planting season in our place.
