How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I majorly depend on subsistence farming which has not been doing well enough to cater for both household daily needs and any other goal in the family. Currently keeping heifers with an aim that once they reproduce, I will have milk for both household consumption and sales gives me a the biggest difference in my daily life. I will have offsprings which to me I can always depend on in case of any financial crisis more so to raise my household needs is easier now. To me having these two heifers in my compound is the biggest difference in my daily life. It gives hope that I can always provide for my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I have a lot to thank GiveDirectly for. At my age adding an asest in homesteads is an achivement that most don't make. GiveDirectly has given us a chance to see life better and thank them and urge them to continue with the same spirit.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I am growing old and I don't have job or business to rely on for my daily basic needs. When I received my second transfer I spent the larger amount on my households daily basic needs. I feel good to enjoy my daily life with ease unlike before. I took another KES20000 to buy a cow. I made this decision since I need milk on a daily basis for my consumption and a financial security that I can lean during hard times.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that my house is now neat and clean as compared to before. I can now clean it within the shortest time possible without having to ask for assistance. Besides, I no longer have to put on a lot of clothes while sleeping because their I'd no more cold. The house is now warm and this makes me happy everyday
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I woke up in the morning after the transfers were sent the previous night and I immediately powered on my phone and immediately I got a message that transfers had been sent. I was overjoyed. I went straight to my son house who live a few metres to find out if they have received as well and they were also celebrating.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the money I received to cement my main house. I initially used to smear it and at times this was very cumbersome to me and so I always had to request someone to do it for me. I also spent some of it to purchase some PVC carpet which I have used to seal the walls which was letting in a lot of cold before. Besides, I managed to buy myself some new clothes

Receiving this money will help me cement this floor. With that I will avoid dust and the work that involves maintainance.I will also buy a dairy cow which will increase milk production hence giving me surplus to sell.I will also buy clothes with the remaining part of the transfers.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I spend most of the time around my compound doing house chores. The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my grandchildren are back from school. They help me a lot and I am relieved of many duties when they are around.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The hardship I am facing in my life is health issues mainly brought about by old age.I have a problem with my joints more so my knees. This has affected my work and mobility.I am a farmer and I mainly depend on my energy to perform farm duties.I now depend on my last born son to help me with farm work and sometimes providing for me since I cannot do a lot of physical work.
