How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I was able to harvest my corn on time hence they were not spoilt by rain. This is because I was able to hire people to harvest the corn with the help of the GD transfers. I am glad my hard work didn't go to waste. I now have enough food that will last me for long, I can even decide to sell some bags to help me achieve my other goals.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have siblings in secondary school who are currently facing challenges in raising school fee. I'm, therefore, planning to invest the coming transfers on farming so that after the harvest I can sell the maize in order to raise the school fee for my siblings. This will ensure they study without being distracted by being sent home more often. There is hope that they will pass their exams if they study well.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
This season I got a good harvest as compared to other seasons. This is because I was able to acquire all the necessary farm inputs. I had to hire people to help me harvest the maize because I couldn't have done it on my own. I'm glad through the GiveDirectly transfers I was able to hire people to help me harvest the maize from the farm. If it wasn't for the money most of the crops would have been destroyed by the rains.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Currently, I'm operating a small business. I do not earn enough to meet my family's needs. I, therefore, have the plans to use the coming transfers to add more stock to my business. I'm hopeful that in the next six months after boosting the business I'll be able to earn more from it which will enable me to comfortably meet my family's needs. The addition of a variety of goods is to ensure that I attract more customers hence more profit.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have been using the money to buy enough food for our family because in most cases we combine efforts with my mother who also gets the cash transfers from Give Directly. So far I am happy that I have been of great help to my parent because at times she uses her money to solve her own personal needs as well as paying back some of her debts.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a new business which has been up and running for the last few months and so far, I believe I am on the right track. I know that it will take me some effort to make the business run in the right direction. I need to make more effort to ensure the business runs as appropriately as I would wish and also expanding it bit by bit after some time.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference is that I have been able to pay school fees for my siblings who have been struggling with their education for the last several years. I used to see my parent toiling excessively in order to keep the kids in school especially before we started getting the monthly transfers, but so far I have been able to chip in and made sure that no one is sent back home as a result of having some few school fees arrears.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect to have a long term goal of expanding my business so that I can generate more profits each and every week. Right now the business is so small and it has not yet picked quite well because I am still new in it, though I am sure that I will be able to make improvements and adjustments as time goes by especially with help and support from my mother. God willing I will venture into the business of selling fish which I think is such a lucrative business and can generate a lot of money.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference is that I have been able to pay my school fees in full with ease. This was not the case before the transfers were being sent. I depended on my uncle who was never on time with school fees this forced me to stay at home on some days due to accrued balances.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I am hopeful that the farming project will be underway and I will have accumulated enough resources to take me through this academic year. This will mean zero fee breaks and more concentration on my studies.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, I no longer stay home due to school fees arrears. This is an achievement, I can concentrate on my schooling with fewer worries about being sent home and my performance has as well improved. This was a struggle when I had to depend on my uncle, he really tried but there are days where he got overwhelmed and failed to pay the fees on time. The impact was evident in my deteriorating performance.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
To be able to pay my school fees with much ease, I am planning to venture into farming to raise money for my school fees. This way I will be more independent giving me humble time to study.
