How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I did use part of my transfer on farming, by hiring people and buying fertilizer hence got bumper last season, we have plenty of food. I do not expect much change in the next six months because I still have school fees to pay. I have several school-going children and it would be difficult to start a new project at the moment. Although I am planning to save the little money I get from casual jobs and start an income-generating activity.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I don't have any additional goals at the moment. I still want to invest in my farm by hiring labour for ploughing and weeding as well as buying hybrid seeds and fertilizer. I am striving hard to get more sacks of maize and beans than the one I got last season. I am working hard to ensure I have all it takes to guarantee me a bumper harvest. I know if I work well, I will be able to get to a better level, I will have enough food to feed my family and also to surplus to sell to get money for school fees for my children.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have a reliable source of income, and this gives me a lot of confidence to take loans from my neighbors to invest in farming, and return later on as per our agreement. I am even able to hire labor unlike before when I had no money to even buy seeds. I used to get almost nothing because I didn't have enough inputs to invest in my farm. I am glad because I now have enough money to hire labor and buy the necessary farm inputs, I have been getting a bumper harvest unlike before. The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have enough food since I have been investing my money in farming, thus we are eating well and I sell surplus farm produce to get money to support my family financially.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I do not expect much change in the next six months because I still have school fees to pay. I have several school-going children and it would be difficult to start a new project at the moment. Although I am planning to save the little money I get from casual jobs and start an income-generating activity later

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Before, I would borrow money from some of my close neighbors when I lacked money and there were no odd jobs which included mainly to cultivate my neighbor's farms. Therefore settling most of my pressing needs such as food was difficulty. Currently, the biggest difference in life is that my family and I are so happy and healthy because we are able to get daily meals and access medical services on time using the monthly transfers without many struggles which give me a sound mind.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have no additional goals at the moment since we are in the farming season and people are running up and down preparing their farms for planting. I would not wish to be left behind, so I am using more of these transfers to hire laborers to till my farm and also buy fertilizers which will eventually boost my farm produce.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before GiveDirectly came, I could not get enough yields due to the fact that I did not have money to lease land and cultivate. My family did missed meals during those times because of meager harvest every season. We could engage in labor work which was so tiresome and the payment was little. Therefore, the biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months is that I have been able to lease land with support from GiveDirectly. I am certain of enough yields at the end of the harvest hence I will be able to get enough to feed on. Our nutritional status will be improved due to this, my family and I are so happy for the support from Givedirectly since it has really changed our standard of living.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect a change in my life in the next six months in that I will have bought a dairy cow for milk production with the saving from the merry go round that includes GiveDirectly's transfer. This dairy cow in the unforeseen future. I believe it will reproduce in the future and I will be able to save the money from the sale of milk that I will be getting. I will be using part of this money to meet other additional needs for my family.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is losing a job. My spouse and I lost jobs at the same time and were back in our rural home without resources to sustain the family. We went hungry for days while children were not able to go to school. We were so much stressed up.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening after finishing my daily activities. I get time to story with my children and husband. I enjoy those moments.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I plan to spend my transfer on establishing a small business. There is no baby shop around where we stay. When I grasp this opportunity, I will be able to supplement the household income. My husband is the only one with a source of income yet the family needs are too many to be sustained. From the profits I will help in providing for the family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of is building my own permanent house. Before then, I was living in a mud walled house which had cracks and dilapidated walls. My current house is spacious and decent which sufficiently accommodate my family. I am very proud of it.
