How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, the goal I have now is to start an additional business of a boutique. This goal hit my mind after seeing the need from the people and I am sure if things go well, I will venture into it since it has so many opportunities and the demand for clothes is raising. This demand is brought by the rise of different designs and fashions and people want to go by the latest trends.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The organization did a wonderful and commendable program. We have seen so many organizations by GiveDirectly has stood out because it gives cash transfers with no intermediaries. Personally, I wii be more than glad if the organization comes back for another round.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received the second transfer, I already has a plan of starting a business with an aim of having a source of income for me and my family. In that note, I opened a shop where I sell fast moving items that are consumed on daily basis such as maize flour, grains and cereals as well as household items like utensils and other personal effects. I did this because I knew it would be a good venture that will enable me to carter for my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 2pm when I was just sitting in my shop waiting for customers when I received a message in my phone. Upon checking it was the first transfer from GiveDirectly. I felt happy knowing that the long desire of my life was going to be fulfilled. My business was in the verge of collapsing thus this was the perfect moment to make it stable.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
After recovering from the sickness I didn’t think my business would stand one day. I didn’t have the finance to restock it neither to sustain it the way it was. The commodities that were in the shop had no difference than having none. As at now, my shop is fully fledged and in a superb operational condition. This could be impossible if it were not for GiveDirectly whose coming to us meant resurrection to my shop.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
As a business person, I was not happy with the rout my business was taking. I fell sick for four months in the second quarter of this year, during this time I left my business in the hands of a relative and it didn’t go well. If it were not for GiveDirectly coming in then I would have closed down. On receiving the money I decided to invest it all in the business. I restocked my business and now it’s back to operation. I fully depend on this business for all my family needs.
