My new goal is to raise enough money so that k can be able to renovate my house which is not in a good state at all. It has an old roof and weak walls, I am always worried especially whenever it rains. I am hoping that all sorts of humiliations from neighbours shall come to an end once the house is fully refurbished. Also, my properties will be much safer and will no longer experience the damages that have been there before.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a great job which is evident from the transformation of my whole village. The unconditional cash transfers have enabled us to build decent iron-roofed houses, and own livestock such as goats, and cows, our children are also in school and most importantly a good number of us ran businesses. I can't single out anything that GiveDirectly did not do well so far.

I spent a huge portion of my second transfer on boosting my retail shop business by purchasing the following commodities; floor, soap, sugar, and cereals. The business was almost collapsing considering that it was the only source of income. I have been utilizing the whole profits and the little capital to fend for my family of nine. I thank am now very ambitious and grateful because ever since I added the new stock, I have been earning good returns. I no longer strain on meeting my family's needs like before which has been my dream. Additionally, I paid school fees of $140 for my five children who are in primary school. They were to miss the end-of-semester exam but luckily the money came in good time. As a parent, I am so happy to see them continuing their studies with their colleagues. With the remaining amount, I bought food and decent clothes for my children.

The funds arrived when I was back at home at about eight in the morning, but since I am not quite literate I asked my husband who is my trustee to help me read the message. Immediately after he confirmed that GiveDirectly had actually kept their promise I was ecstatic abd at the same time grateful beyond anything especially since I really needed the money at the time.

Through the donations I received, I finally managed to purchase beddings and also not forgetting that I was finally able to open and run my own business which is helping me financially so far and making less tougher for me to sustain my family.

Before receiving the transfers my family and I used to sleep on the floor because we did not have beds, so when I finally received the money I went ahead and bought a bed and two mattresses which cost me KES 18,000. Afterwards I went to purchase a mould board for KES 10,000 so that it could make farming much more easier for me. I also paid tuition fee for children since they were almost on the verge of being kicked out of school. One of my children is disabled so he went to a different school for thr ones which special needs where I paid KES 9,000 and for my four other children I paid KES 4,000. I also used KES 7,200 on nutrition because having meals was a problem from time to time for my family and I abd lastly I used the rest of the transfers to open up a business where I opened a store and sold different items that included beans, rice, maize flour, wheat flour and sugar just to mention a few.
