Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I now collect water with the bicycle I bought with the GiveDirectly cash transfer. Additionally, I acquired an ox to pair up with the one I had to facilitate ploughing. Before I got the transfers, I could pair my ox with the other members of the village who also had one which was not reliable. I carried water on my head and I often suffered from back pain.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
As a family, we felt so happy when we got the money on the phone. It is at that time we sat down to strengthen the plans we had earlier on made.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on purchase of an ox UGX 820,000, a bicycle at UGX 282,000, a metallic double door at UGX 280,000. I paid a debt of 35,000, saved UGX 70,000 and spent the balance of the money on purchase of clothes and food.
