How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
This year i am hoping to plaster my entire house and enlarge my plantains and cocoa farm. Give Directly is not going to be here providing us money forever. But as i continue to invest in my farm, i will continue to earn money even when Give Directly is gone. My family and i will live a better life because i will sell those materials and we will buy what ever we need.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
We have family in America but they are not of help to us.From the onset of this Give Directly program, i was afraid but with more clarity about the problem by the staff i began at ease. Give Directly is doing exceptionally well for us. Since i was born, i have never receive 100.00USD from anyone not even family member as gift but Give Directly changed that narative. I didn't even have or know about mobile money account but Give Directly educated me on that and i can freely used my phone, saved and cash out money. What i dislike about Give Directly are: they don't accept gift not even water from anyone in the community and they also don't even buy anything from us. I am a farmer and i have lots of fruits on my and other things and i sometimes bring some to sell but no buyer until i travelled to another town. I believe that if Give Directly staff were buying from us, i will not go through that. These are the things that really make me to feel bad about Give Directly and i am hoping that they will at least work on them.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The house my family and i built hasn't been plaster because we couldn't afford to pay for cement, sand and even fees to pay the workers. But as i received the second transfer from Give Directly, i immediately went to purchase materials for that purpose. I bought sand for 53.00USD, 134.00USD for 8 bags of cement and use the balance on my plantains and cocoa farm, paid people to clean the grass and planted new ones.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
" I am a junior high student. I dropped out of school last year because I did not have money to pay my school fees. I want to go back to school but the proceeds I get from the farm is not enough to pay my school fees. When I receive the transfer from GiveDirectly, I will use portion of it to pay my school fees and the remaining will be use to establish a business where I could raise funds to care for my family."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"I have not had any happy moment in the past six months because I am not able to pay my school fees and also fully provide for my family".
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
" The biggest hardship I face is lack of finance. I dropped out of school because I did not have money to pay my school fees. I do not really think I will be able to attend school this year because of lack of finance".
