In the next one year and beyond, I hope that I will get some casual work that will enable me do more business. Right now, I still depend on odd casual jobs to put food on the table for my family. I am also a widow which means that everyone in the family looks up to me to meet the needs of family. Once the rains fall, I will be able to start a grocery business that will be quite profitable and that will make my family's living standards to rise. It was 6 am and I had just woken up when I thought of checking on my phone if there were any missed calls or new messages. I reached out for it and upon activating my phone screen, I saw an M-pesa SMS. With lots of excitement, I hurriedly checked the contents of the SMS since I had heard that some people had already received the transfers from GiveDirectly the previous evening. I spent the whole of the transfer money on building another house.
