What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on purchasing building materials and constructed a 3-roomed house to replace the small one that I had before. I also paid school fee for my children in kindergarten.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has changed than it would have been if I never received any transfer since with the transfer, I have acquired a spacious house that I least expected.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Givedirectly has done well in sending us transfers in bits as opposed to lump sum one which would have misled most people.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent 40,000 KES to buy two cattle which will reproduce to give me more livestock. I also spent 5,000 KES to pay school fees fro my children and the remaining 5,000 KES I spent to buy iron sheets for building a new house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that what I did not have I now have and in turn they will help me in future like my two cows which I can always sell whenever I have a problem.

I spent my first transfer on buying two pigs because they will help me meet family needs as they multiply. I then paid primary school fees for my three children so they can have a bright future and bought some food with the balance.

The moment I received my money I was overjoyed because I knew my life was going to improve.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
Our first plan is to use part of the transfer to start a retail shop. Secondly, we intend to use another part of the transfer to lease two acres of land, where we plan to cultivate rice. Lastly, we plan to use the remaining amount to buy a cow, that would provide us with milk, and also be as an investment for our family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement we are very proud of is, having bought utensils with savings from my small business.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Due to inadequate income, paying school levies for our two children in primary school, is the biggest hardship we have faced.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evenings, when I'm selling charcoal to my customers, with anticipation earning some income for my family.
