How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Nowadays I have a source of income from the sale of milk which came out of the cow that was bought. The milk is also food to my children hence I would not spend most of the money in procurement of milk for family use. Had it not for GiveDirectly, we wouldn't have gotten money to build the new house for our son which is currently offering him comfort in terms of shelter and also cold.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly does good by offering financial support to poor people to help them rise beyond their means in terms of unconditional cash transfers. There is really nothing that GD does wrong!
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer on building a new house for my son. I also spent the other part in buying food for my family and the rest was used in buying seats.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am extremely happy about GiveDirectly and the cash transfer program. This money has come in the most right time, hence we shall start enjoying a higher standard of living. I will use the money to buy furniture and cement the floor of my house. We have been residing in the incompleted house for more than three years. So, the transfer will enable us to complete it and enjoy subsequent comfort.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon when returning from my casual job with some income for my family. As the sole provider with limited skills, I have to handle tedious tasks to gain income for buying food, paying school fees and other household needs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
About 20 years ago, I lost my husband - the sole breadwinner for our family by then. Accordingly, I could not imagine fending for my family alone because my kids were still young - I was to seek school fees, food and other needs for them. Although I have managed to provide for my family, we still feel the gap that my husband left. Hence, the loss of my husband serves as the biggest challenge I have faced in life.
