How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I would have not received the transfer because I have been able to pay school fee to my step-daughter who is currently enrolled in form one. I have also bought chairs which have changed the outlook of my house hence I do not nowadays ask for seats from the neighbors whenever I have visitors as I often did before I bought my own chairs.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, I think GiveDirectly does well in helping the most needy people in the society without asking for any form of payment, unlike the government programs which are always taken to the unintended recipients due to corruption practices and unfairness by the officers involved. However, there is nothing that GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on supporting my biological mother to build a new house since the one she had was unstable and was equally destroyed due to heavy rainfall we witnessed during the previous long rainy season. She is currently living in a better house and has high self esteem. Secondly, I spent part of my second transfer on paying school fee for my step-daughter who has joined form one this year since I believe education is the best gift a parent can give to his/her child. I believe she will excel in her studies and be able to afford a better and successful life in future.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a lot to me. I am so happy. I am going to start a saloon business within the community so that I can have some income to take care of my family members.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am resting and having dinner with my children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of a job. I have been unable to get a job to provide me with an income. This makes me rely on my husband who does casual jobs and most of the time his income is not enough to cater for our family needs like food.
