Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
At first, I wouldn't believe that what I had been promised during enrolment was true. I waited until for a few days and when I received a message confirming that I had received my first transfers from Give Directly. I felt so happy and thank the heaven for what I had just received for I knew that the transfers would change my life a lot.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Owning the heifer and goats is the biggest difference in my daily life. I could not have managed to purchase any of these animals if I was to buy them at my cost. I thank GiveDirectly for their financial support has enabled me to achieve this. These are to me assets that I can depend on in case of any financial hardship. I am expecting them to reproduce and increase in number soon. Apart from the livestock, I also built a house. I am happy that we have a good shelter now.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my first transfer to buy some livestock which includes a heifer and two goats for rearing. Initially, I had none but through Give Directly I now can proudly say I have living assets that I can readily depend on in case of financial difficulties. In addition to this livestock, I also sent spent some to buy building materials for constructing a new house. Before I use to live in a small grass roofed hut which had leaking roof. Now I can at least enjoy a comfortable sleep unlike before. I also did the shopping for my family's basic needs such as the daily provision of food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means building a new house since the one we live in currently leaks in water whenever it rains hence exposing us to cold related diseases such as common cold and pneumonia. I also intend to buy a dairy cow for milking which means daily income from selling milk as well as building up savings from the money i usually use in buying milk for family consumption.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy whenever i arrive home from work in the evening to take my evening meal and rest to regain back my energy after a long tiresome day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Poor harvests as a result of prolonged drought as well as floods has been the biggest hardship we face in our family. Despite owning 8 acres of land, harsh climatic conditions has rendered it unproductive hence food security is the biggest issue we face
