Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The cash transfers have relieved me of very many responsibilities such as school fees which was a major challenge. I also visited my inlaws and officially declared my intentions to marry their daughter. I feel very priviledged and happier because I have found a new partner with the aid of the cash transfers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a mobile money message early in the morning. When I read the message, I was extremely happy because I was in need of financial support to enable me officially marry my new wife.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to pay tuition fees worth UGX 800000 for my daughter. I also spent UGX 450000 on marriage introduction and more money was spent on the marriage preparation. Currently I have a balance of UGX 120000 which I plan to spend on treating my sick sibbling.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to marry. Iam currently staying without awoman after my in-laws took her since I have not given dowery hence life is meaningless. Receiving Givedirectly transfers will enable me buy animals to give the in-laws as dowery hence formalizing our marriage.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is evening hours since Iam engaged the whole day. Iam always chatting better farming methods with my fellow farmers. This has helped in strengthening my income base.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of money for educating my daughter studying in Ngora Nursing school. Iam a peasant and the farming I carrry on is not sustainable enough to produce what can help in raising money for her school fees. My daughter somes times is sent home due to fees and this affecting her studies.
