How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that, I am happy because I live a better life because I have built a permanent house that has improved on our living conditions. Earlier on, I used to stay in a grass thatched house that could leak when it rained.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well to give money that I spent to build a permanent house that has beautified my home. I do not see what they have not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second cash transfer for buying bedding in order to improve on our living conditions. I paid school fees for my child. I paid a debt for an acre of land that I had mortgaged for paying school fees. I bought food for the builders and household members. I bought a door, a window, cement and timber towards completing construction of my permanent house. I bought a drum for collecting water. I spent UGX 40000 on starting business that will support the household. I bought ground nut seeds and spent part of the money on leisure.
