What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on purchase of bricks and other house construction materials (35,000 KES), and also bought dry corn for food (12,000 KES)
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that for the first time, I have stocked enough dry corn for food for the dry months of January up to July ; it happens that my family has been going hungry with very little to eat during this periopd every January up to July of very year due to poor harvest in this County. In addition, soon I will be able to put up a lovely and spacious brick house, all of which would have been impossible without GD transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD’s enrolment process was perfect and quite thorough and so the right people were enrolled, with wonderful results for GD and beneficiary fraternity. However, GD Community Entry process was weak in that a lot of people do not attend Barazas and as such there was need to do additional awareness creation through all Women groups,Youth Groups, Churches and even in Funerals, which would have minimized non-participation rate.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to buy sand, cement, timber, round poles, nails and more iron roofing sheets which I will use to build a larger house.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is having built my current house. My husband died before establishing a homestead, but I have managed to establish my own homestead by saving money that I got while working as a farm hand.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face right now is lack of enough money to pay school fees for my children who are in secondary and primary schools. If I am unable to raise the required fees they may have to defer their studies.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening, I usually get to relax after a hectic day and this makes me very happy.
