What did you spend your third transfer on?
I used a portion of the transfer to buy a second hand motorcycle for transport business. I also purchased corns for family consumption.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I now have a reliable source of income from the motorcycle I bought. In most cases I used to work for people in their homes and farms to earn a living but as now, that is a thing of the past.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, what GD does well is that its approach considers the well being of people in the community. I think it is well known that money is the only soap for life as such their approach remains the best for me.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy twenty iron sheets as part of construction materials for my new house. I then bought sofa seats to make my sitting room look decent and attractive. I also bought a table and a new mattress for my children. The rest of the money was spent on paying part of the school fees for my son in secondary school and also buy two bags of maize.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I will be able to construct a new and bigger house for my family that will be comfortable to live in. My current house is very small and we are squeezing inside.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I had saved some money before so when I received my transfer I added to my savings and bought a cow which I will milk in future.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy and felt relieved when I received my transfer because I needed the money so much for buying a cow. It was late in the evening at the most unexpected time when I saw an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
Firstly, we intend to use part of the transfer to buy a posh mill for income generation, and build a house where it would be installed. Finally, we intend to use the remaining amount to install electricity at the posh mill, and in our house.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
Building this our house, is the achievement we are very proud of because, we used to stay in a grass-thatched house that would leak, when it was raining.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship we have faced is, paying school fees for our child in secondary school in form one.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the mornings, when we have breakfast together as a family.
