What did you spend your third transfer on?
I spent my third transfer on purchase of a second hand motor cycle for 47,000 KES for the purpose of transportation and supply of vegetables to a School in place of Secondary School fee for our child who is a Form 3 Student. Before we bought the motor cycle using GD grant, we used to pay 800 KES towards transporting the vegetables to the school which is 250 km away from our home, yet we had no option since that is how we raise his school fee (the calculations are done at the end of the School term). The motor cycle has made all the difference in our lives since we only fuel it, and get to save the bi-weekly 800 KES that we spent before GD supported us. In addition, my husband uses the motor cycle once every week (Wednesdays) to transport people, and he gets to give me 200 KES at the end of the day, not to mention that he ferries me to wherever I need to go, especially Church functions and this way we get to save money and time as well . I am very thankful to GD because again, I spent about 6,000 KES from my first transfer on 10 kilograms of certified maize seed and fertilizer on 1 acre piece of land, and harvested a whooping 7 bags of corn (1 bag is 90 kgs) and as we talk right now my family has plenty of food since corn is our staple food. Before GD support, I used to plant ordinary maize seed and had no fertilizer, and I remember harvesting only 2 bags of corn from a 2-acre piece of land at most in any one given season, (which translates to 1 bag per acre). I thank God for GD, that this time round I am able to comfortably feed my family of 10 people which had never happened before.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I spent on a second-hand motorcycle. As a farmer, I had been struggling to transport my farm products to the market. People who could help us transport the goods could really over utilizeus.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I can now transport my farm products to the market using my own motorcycle. I don't need to incur losses anymore since I am able to transport my products to the market at a cheaper cost and in time. Before then, it was more expensive relying on other people to help me transport the products to market.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is inability to pay school fees for my children. I never went to school and doesn't want my children to suffer the same difficult life that I experience daily due to lack of proper education.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when customers visit me in my vegetable farm. They usually buy the vegetables that become source of my income that I use to buy food for my family and pay school fees as well.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a better living standards for my family. I would like to pay fees for my son that is in secondary school and use the remaining part to purchase a motorcycle. I hope to use the motorcycle for transportation which will create a better source of income that is sustainable and reliable.
