"The biggest hardship I have ever faced is when I lost my husband in the year 2010. He used to be our sole provider, now I am left alone with five children.Times were better when my husband was alive. I was inspired and we were happy. Even though his earning was minimal, he stretches our budget and we have never lacked. Now I am left alone, I have to struggle even though its hard to make ends meet."

" Four years ago, I lost my parents. It is difficult when you don't have both the parents, we feel so lonely as a familly as our lives changed since then. As a first born I had to drop out of school to do casual work in the next village in order to make a living for my siblings. This is the biggest hardship I have ever faced"

"My biggest hardship in life is when I bought a dairy cow using loan from Kenya women microfinance bank in the year 2015. Suddenly, the cow died before I could pay back the loan. I had to seek funds from family, relatives and friends to repay back the loan. This was not easy because I had to spend all resources in the family."

"Even though I have acquired sufficient skills and knowledge in grafting fruits and other plants, I have no capital to venture into the business. I lack funds for establishing a greenhouse and purchasing appropriate seedlings. Unluckily, I have failed to leverage my skills and knowlwdge to generate grafted fruits, and subsequently miss income. I feel that is the biggest hardship I have faced."

"In the year 2010 - 2011, I faced the biggest hardship in my life. One of my neighbors wanted to grab our land. He ( the neighbor) used court orders to block us from using our resouces that entail trees and farmlands. Consequently, we were left helpless since we were denied the sole source of our livelihood. We could hardly find something to eat."

"The achievement that am proudest of is the ability to proceed to my secondary education. I never thought I would join form one since my parents were so poor that they were not able to pay my school fees. It is by the grace of God that I was able to join form one and this made me so happy. I am particularly grateful to my neighbours who organised an harambee for me and made sure that I continued with my studies. Once in a while I have fee problem but am proud that I am almost done with my secondary education."

"The achievement that I am proudest of is having an established tea plantation. It took me close to four years to have the tea plantation established. I am now proud that I can take tea to the tea buying centre and have bonuses at the end of the year."
