"My expectation is to ensure that my grandchildren continues with their education. Its not only their parents responsibility to do this but I also have a play in it. A bright future for my grandchildren also means a bright future for me too. I also want to live a comfortable life even in my old age by ensuring that I have a stable source of income to help me meet my basic necessities such as food."

"Being self employed has always been my greatest desire. At the moment I entirely depend on my husband who is a casual laborer in Mombasa. This has led to over reliance and because they are no alternative sources income, most of our household needs are hardly met. I therefore intend to equip myself with tailoring skills by enrolling in a vocational college nearby once I receive the transfers. Subsequently, I will purchase a sewing machine and necessary materials to kick start the business. Additionally, I will invest in diary cows that will supply my children with enough milk and surplus being sold to the outside market thus generating extra income. Having all these up and running will reduce the burden that my husband has endured for too long and that is what receiving this money means to me."

"I have had health challenges for a very long time, until recently. This is part of the reason why I was not able to proceed with my studies after primary school. The medical costs in various hospitals depleted all what I had-both money from the business I used to run and livestock. This has left me to start from scratch. However,I am grateful that am now in full and good health."

"I expect my life in the next six months to have greatly changed. I expect to have invested more in farming thus will engage more in my piece of land than on hard and low paying casual jobs I currently do. I expect good crops on the farm thus will be hopeful of having a better harvest which translates to enough food in our family and surpluses to sell to meet other needs."

"My biggest hardship is my ill health. In November 2018 I was diagnosed with chronic tuberculosis which totally immobilized me. I could no longer work as I was on complete bed rest. I have spent a lot of money to get treatment which has landed me in debt too. Even my house fell as a result of heavy rainfall but I could not rebuild and have been forced to sleep in a shade for the past 4 months. Though my condition has significantly improved, am still on medicine and have not resumed work."

"My biggest hardship has been my wife and I's poor health. For the past 7 years I struggled with prostate issues while my wife had to undergo a stomach surgery recently. This hindered us from sufficiently meeting our needs such as food and education for our children because most of our finances were consumed my medical bills."
