"In the next six months, I am hopeful I will have started the project of expanding my house. As it is currently, I cannot store my farm harvest because it is small. I am planning to put an extension that will allow me to store all my harvest and other properties well."

"The biggest difference in my daily life that has come about because of this transfer is the assets that I now own. The dairy cow that I bought meant that we now have enough milk supply for our family. Not only do we have enough milk supply but I have also started a poultry keeping business that I am so much optimistic that it will raise income for my family and change the living standards. I chose poultry keeping particularly because it is going to give instant income that will bring about a change in living standards in the shortest time possible."

"My life is different because I have intensified my farming. I get more from my farming initiative because I put more money into maize farming. I leased more land that is now doing well with maize on it. I also bought a dairy cow from which I sell milk for consumption and also for sale. Income from the two ventures is higher than ever before in my life. I am so grateful that I became among the beneficiaries. Without GiveDireclty, I would still be relying on doing menial jobs on a daily basis in order to feed my family."

"I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. It was at around 6:00 am and I was just about to wake up and prepere tea for my school going children I hardly had a wink after seeing that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I woke up that early prepared tea for my children as I reorganized myself on how I was going to spend the money needed."

After checking I confirmed it was an mpesa message from GiveDirectly. They had finally debited my first transfer as promised. I was overwhelmed with joy I wish you could see how I reacted."

"Before the transfer, I used to idle around because I did not have a regular job. I could go to do menial jobs on people's farms occasionally because work was not always available. I had to do menial jobs just to feed my family. I am now having a good business because of a motorcycle taxi business. This ensures that there is food in my household all the time since I never miss work to do. I spent time every day ferrying people and goods. The income is constant though not steady but is enough for me and my household unlike before."

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying some building materials such as some bags of cement, sand, and bricks. This was purposely for the renovation of my house. I later bought a new solar panel because previously I was using some candles. They were costly and sometimes I could not afford to buy them. Thus it was really affecting my children's academic performance because sometimes they could not do their school assignments at night. I then hired my neighbors to prepare my farm because we were approaching the planting season. I also bought two goats to keep in my compound, I opted to buy them because they reproduce twice a year and mature faster. I also cleared school fees for my children who are still in primary school. The remaining amount of money I bought some sufficient foodstuffs for my family and some other household items."

"My expectation in the next six months is to have bought some dairy goats for rearing. This will help increase the amount of milk I produce on my farm and in turn improve the income I get from the sale of the milk. Livestock and dairy farming is what we mostly depend on our livelihoods in our locality. Having more livestock, especially dairy animals means I will be in a better position to meet my family's basic and daily needs with minimum challenges. I also hope my beekeeping farming would also catch up despite the heavy rains that usually affect this kind of farming."
