"My biggest ambition is to own a permanent house. This will save me the hustle of repairing my current house frequently. I have been saving for the same but due to insufficient income, I have not been able to achieve my dream. Receiving this money therefore means accomplishing my desire. I will supplement it with my savings for the aforementioned purpose."

"A separate house for my children is generally what receiving this money means to me. This is because, at the moment, I share my house with the children who are grown up and this does not give me peace since it is too small and it can not accommodate us. My plan once I receive the cash grant is to spend $300 to construct the house for the children something that will guarantee me the respect that I have lost for long. On the other hand, I also plan to use $300 to buy oxen to help me upscaling my farming since I currently depend on using traditional methods of farming like the use of a hoe. This has resulted in low production and consequently food insecurity in my household."

"My greatest desire has been to make my house look more conducive for my living and I have always wished to plaster the inner walls as well as flooring it. This desire has not come through because of the financial crisis that we face in our household and I am always feeling unhappy seeing mice holes in my house. Receiving this money means fulfilling my dream and I intend to spend utmost 25000 shillings to finish the house to my desired standards. On the other hand, I also plan to buy 10 goats at $30 each in order to have a dependable project that can sort my family needs in the future."

""My biggest challenge is the lack of support from my family members. After my first wife went back to her parents, I suffered depression which later forced me to resign from my working place. I came back home with nothing, hoping to be supported by my family members who later abandoned me. Since then life has never be the same again. I always rely on well wishers who supports me with basic needs such as food and clothes.""

"Receiving this money would mean so much to me and my family too. We live in an area that is frequently hit by drought, and so we cannot solely depend on the crops that we plant. I plan to start poultry keeping if I get lucky to be enrolled in GiveDirectly program as this will be a good additional source of income. For a start I want to have 50 chicken each costing 500 shillings. From this I will get 50 eggs per day which I will sell in a nearby market at a cost of 10 shillings each. This will translate to 500 shillings daily. This will fully cater for my family's daily needs and my children going to bed hungry will be a thing of the past."
