"Unemployment has been the biggest hardship in my life. I graduated from the university and thought that it would be easy getting a job with my undergraduate degree, I have really applied for jobs but haven't been successful. I had to resort to casual labour but the income I get from it is not sustainable, it barely provides for my households basic needs."

"My biggest hardship is not providing my family with all the basic needs, especially education. When it comes to food security and housing I would say I have tried my best so that my family can eat and have a place to sleep. But it has been a challenge I raising school fees for all my 5 children who are still in school. Two of them are in Secondary school and 3 in primary school, sometimes they get sent home for school fess and I have to borrow from friends to pay. Having enough capital will really help me in curbing the school fees issue and my children will be able to learn without too many obstacles."

"As a young family with kids who rely mainly on milk as the primary source of proteins and related nutrients, receiving this money means that my children shall always enjoy a good diet. This is because I will utilize the transfer on purchasing an additional cow that will provide us with milk. Currently we are relying on only one cow to acquire the invaluable resource. When the cow is not lactating, we usually struggle to obtain milk from our neighborhood; at times we have no funds for buying the milk. Hence, having two cows will probably ensure that we always have milk in our household."

"Financial constraint as a result of unreliable source of income is my biggest hardship. This has resulted to a big struggle in order to meet my needs. Burning charcoal has never been sufficient in the sense that brokers buy charcoal at a very low price. A sack goes for only 700 shillings and it takes 2 weeks to fill it. This means I have to borrow from relatives and neighbours as I await my earnings."

"Since I was born, I have never known a different source of income other than burning charcoal. I used to be productive during my youthful days because I had the energy to do it. Currently the much I produce is 700 shillings a week because there a no more trees. This amount is insufficient and it is what has made me unable to live a decent life. I can therefore say, financial instability is my biggest hardship."
