"I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on building a better and spacious house . This is because we used to live in a small house which could not host all the family comfortably. Currently I have a spacious house. My children are so happy because they have their own rooms where they can do assignment without any disturbance. The rest of the money I bought seeds/potatoes and planted on my farm. I have always wished to start horticulture farming but I did not had the capital. This was the best feelings ever since I was in a position to do so. The harvest is for consumption and the surplus I will sell to earn an income."

"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have build a better and spacious house for my family. I used to live in grass thatched house which could not host all the family comfortably. This was so challenging and demoralizing because whenever we had visitors there was no space to host them. We do small scale farming and the harvest that we get is only for consumption. My spouse do casual jobs and the small income that he gets is for other basic household needs including paying school fees for our children. There was no extra money to build a better house. Currently we have build a better and spacious house for my family. I am so grateful because my children have a good place to sleep and do there homework. I no longer shy to welcome visitors like before because I have a spacious room to host them. I am so much grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has improved our living standard."
