"It was around 12noon, I was from the nearby market place when I had the good news that my neighbours have received their transfer. I asked my daughter in-law to confirm the messages in my phone and indeed I found out that I had received my transfer. I was overwhelmed with Joy when I realised that I received the transfer."

"Having a herd grazing on our field is one good feeling which like in any other household has really raised our status. Our fields have been deserted for quite a long time since the whole herd we used to keep was sold when we needed school fees for our children. This investment has spared us a lot of expenses since we are currently producing enough milk both for our household and a surplus to sell to the neighborhood. We are really grateful for this turnaround and are expectant that the second transfer will even bring other greater changes to our household."

"The happiness we had in our household after receiving the transfer was overwhelming; it was the right time when we really needed to make a lot out of it. We had been watching the great work happening in the adjacent villages, and this has always been a great motivation not only to us but also to the whole village. This moment of receipt confirmation assured us that all we had in books will soon be accomplished."

"I had a desire of building a descent house for my family because I used to sleep in a small, old grassy thatched house which leaks during rain season. My first priority was to the build a new iron roofed house. I spent my transfer to purchase buildings poles, 20 Iron sheet, rope and labor charges. I also bought clothes and food for my family. The remaining amount helps me to educate my children who were always sent home due to lack of school fees."

"I spent part of my first transfer on buying some livestock which includes a dairy worthy of KES 15000. I later bought some building materials which include building materials which include building poles, timber, ropes, and a few pieces of iron sheets. This was for the construction of a new house since the previous one had collapsed a month ago and I used to seek shelter from neighbours and friends for all that time. Also, I paid school fees for my children who just resumed a week ago after the long holiday. With the remaining amount, I bought enough foodstuff for the family."

"Staying with my family in a grass thatched house has many challenges. It leaks a lot in rainy season, prone to harmful insects living in the grass and also can be easily blown away by wind. The main challenge of them all is that every year or after six months depending on availability of grass,I am forced to find new grass and thatch again. Since we are many in this village who stay in grass thatched houses, we always scramble for the available grass which sometimes is never enough and we have to travel long distances to get some. Now all is am looking forward to is to have an iron roofed house."
