"In my own opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and pay school fees for children in various schools. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well."

"I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly to complete the construction of the house that I started building using the previous transfer. We used to live in a small grass thatched house but now we have a spacious house. I also started horticulture farming, I bought seeds and fertilizers, Currently I have food for the family and I sell the rest at the market to earn an income to support my family in meeting the additional household items. Finally I bought clothes for my children. They were so happy in that the had new clothes."

"GiveDirectly does well by allowing us the freedom to choose how to spend our transfers. This would allow us to maximize our money by spending according to our priorities and preferences. In brief, this ensures each one gets satisfied. In the other hand, I find nothing that GiveDirectly cannot do well."

"I used 200 USD of my second transfer on paying school fees for my two children who are at secondary. I opted to do so since there were huge arrears pending; my children used to be sent home to collect them m, a practice that adversely impacts their studies. I spent another 100 USD on purchasing food items for my family since we have been buying them all along because we have a relatively small farm to plant food crops. As a widow taking care of my family of 9 members without a reliable source of income or adequate space for crip farming, gaining sufficient food has been the biggest challenge I face. Finally, I spent the remaining amount (approximately 230 USD) on purchasing and installing a television set in my house. We had yearned to own television for specific reasons - entertainment and updates."

"Our lives are much better after receiving the transfer. This is because we have some piece of land where we plant vegetables and other crops unlike before. Having some farm produce eases my struggle of getting feeding my family. Currently, we can get something to eat even when I have no income or money. Initially, it was a must for us to spend some funds each time we intend to eat, something that has dramatically changed."

"I spent almost 150 USD of my second transfer on improving my kitchen by establishing a bigger and more decent one. We had been using a relatively small and dilapidated kitchen, something that adversely affects our self-esteem. The roof of our new kitchen is made of iron sheets, unlike the older one that was grass-thatched. Also, I bought more birds to expand my poultry farming project using 100 USD. I have always endeavored to develop my small-scale poultry farming to a medium one to realize substantial profits. Further, I utilized 250 USD on expanding my business of trading on raw milk to realize more profits that would sustain us and allow us to develop/ grow our wealth through savings. Currently, the profits I have been realizing from my poultry farming and trading on milk could barely sustain us, leaving us with no amount to save."
