"Securing a good job which can give me good money has been the biggest challenge I have faced in life. I work as a casual labourer at our nearby center but the job is not guaranteed due to the high level of unemployment in our area. In a week I make at least 800 shillings, which is not enough to sustain all our needs such as food. My family of 5 spends 300 shillings in a day."

"Receiving this money means self employment to my husband. Currently, he works as a taxi driver which belongs to our neighbor. This I plan to achieve through spending 100,000 shillings to purchase a new motorbike for him which he will be operating it. In a day he can make a profit of 1000 shillings which is enough to sustain all our needs such as food. This is going to be a good source of income. Approximately, my family of 3 members spend 300 shillings in a day. The other proceeds will be saved for our child future education. The rest of the transfer will go to livestock."

"In my opinion Givedirectly doesnt need to change anything at all. What they are doing is enough. I just really like the fact that they reached the people directly because if they had gone through the chiefs or TAs I believe that that money wouldnt have reached the people. So the fact that they actually came to the villages house by house is what makes Givedirectly work."

"My life has changed a great deal, all these things I have accomplished now were just dreams, dreams that seemed so far for me to reach. So now because of the transfers I am living the dream, I never ever thought that this would ever happen to me. So without the transfers I would have been stuck with these ideas in my head but now my ideas, dreams are coming to life."

"I spent the transfers to pay for my child's transport fee to South Africa, my son had gotten a work opportunity that side so I gave him 200,000 from the first transfers. I then bought 15 glasses for the Windows in my house, A Matress and I used some of the money for some food. Then bought 14bags of cement for the flooring in my house and also spent money on transportation for all those materials to be sent to me and of course I also had to pay some men for construction... Lastly I bought fertilizer so I could do some farming."
