"My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer from GD because I am now living happily. I am building a new home which I would have never managed to do without the help I have received from GD because my only source of income was in farming which only helped my family in finding food and not money. Now I will live in a house that has iron sheets for the roof , this way the house wont lick in the raining season."

"On receiving the first transfer, I decided to transfer it all to the Mshwari savings account. I had been hoping to enroll in a course in Library Science but the struggle to save towards it has always failed since I have never had a reliable source of income. The transfer I received came just at the right time when I had received the admission letter due in September. This being the only money I had put all my hope in, I saw it best to save it all as I await the second transfer that will cover all the school's entry requirements as well as tuition fees. I am grateful that the hope to finally be back to school is here with me."

"On receiving the transfer, I was so excited that the enrollment we did weeks ago was finally bearing fruits. It came when I was a little bit far away from my phone. At that moment I was in my mother's house who on getting the message notification, she was fast to check and had to confirm with me. Since I had no phone, I run back home, picked mine that had the same news. To me, this meant quite a lot as I had been praying hard for a breakthrough that can settle my debts and take me back to school. This was that moment I had been praying for and had to really thank God for answering it."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that through financial help, I was able to send my two children to school. One was in his third year and the other one joined recently and clearing the fees at once was not attainable. Since we only depend on my spouse for our daily bread and solely rely on casual jobs, paying the fees on time was not possible. This forced them to stay home for quite some time because of the huge fee balances. This really demotivated them and affected their academic performance as well. I am now a proud parent because they are studying comfortably with fewer disturbances. This assures a bright future for them and their generation."

"I spent part of the first transfer on buying a wooden bed and a mattress at a total of 120 USD. Previously I used to sleep on the traditional beds made of ropes which had lots of discomforts. I also bought two goats KES 95 USD which will now be the living assets that I can rely on at any time. In addition, I bought several building materials like iron sheets, building materials, and timber which cost 240 USD. I bought all these with an aim of renovating the previous one was small and in critical condition. With the remaing amount, I am using it in buying food for my family."

"When irecieved the money, i went to the boma and bought 20 iron sheets and timber to replace my roof. My house had a roof made from grass that required yearly maintenance. Replacing the roof means that now i will nolonger have to worry about chaning the roof. The change that i had i bought a mattress for my family to sleep on as we sleep on sacks amd this is something that we lacked in our home."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a heifer and a oxen. I do casual jobs at the construction sites. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family. I do not have a continuous source of income to enable me buy the livestock. The amount of money that I get from the casual jobs is for school fees and food. When I received the transfer I felt so happy and overwhelmed with joy. Currently I have invested on livestock project which has always been my dream. This will helps me in case of any emergency. Currently I intend to save money and buy more livestock. When they have reproduce and many in number I would sell them to pay school fees for my children. I hope to work hard and ensure that my children get the best education. I am so happy because GiveDirectly has changed my living standard."
