"It was on 14th of October 2021 at around 9am when I was resting from a tedious work of fetching some water when I received a message in my phone. Since I was very tired, I reluctantly checked the message. My eyes stuck on the phone screen after realizing that it was a transfer message from GiveDirectly. I was filled with joy and jumped up and down. People who were around were surprised and asked me what the matter was but in vain, I uttered no word."

"The transfer has brought a big difference in my life and that of my family. I now have a cow that provides me with milk and I no longer have to buy some. I have thus been able to save money that I can use on other important things. With part of the transfer, I was also able to buy some food that is going to sustain my family for a while. We, therefore, have something to eat and we no longer go hungry like some of the days when we lack money. Thank you so much GiveDirectly for making this possible."

"The biggest difference in my daily life is that the transfer has empowered me to purchase some goats that I am currently keeping in my compound. I couldn't afford to buy any at y cost becasue they were too expensive. I however settled to buying the goats becasue they do survive in my region and I am optimistic that they will multiply and I will readily sell some and pay school fees to my three children. Being a single parent who relies on the burning and selling of charcoal paying the fees for my children has always been a major challenge. Therefoe I believe this is a valuable investment that I believe with time my children will no longer be sent home regularly becasue of the fee arrears issue. In addition, through the goats, I'll be able to cater for my family basic needs and sort any emergency that may arise without having to strain like before."
