"With the small business that I had been doing, I was not able to complete the construction of my new house that I had been working on for a full year. I am glad that the transfer I received found me at the final stages in that I only needed to complete the interior part and obtain an additional piece of furniture to add to the pre-existing ones. The first KES3500 enabled me to obtain a three-seater sofa from the local carpentry shop. This fitted the space that was always portraying an ugly appearance inside the house. I also had to expand my livestock farming as I had been rearing goats that have been helping me a lot in sorting all the household bills and serving all emergencies within the household. With the current trip of 10, I had to add another four at KES18000 - one being a Billy as I had none within the farm before. With the anticipation of the planting season, I could not miss a chance to prepare our piece of land too. Hiring a tractor that tilled the piece was KES2500. I also bought clothing for my children, a pair for my spouse and me, and injected the remaining KES20000 into my business that has drastically improved at the moment. Other than buying just goats, I am also buying cows at the moment and selling to generate a better profit margin."

"I feel so blessed to have received this cash transfer. I am a casual labourer, who earns KES 500 a day if I'm lucky to find work. I couldn't afford to provide the basic needs of food, clothing and education for all seven of us. This situation caused me a lot of mental anguish as a parent. But receiving this transfer has changed all of that. I am especially happy that two of my children who are still in school have a chance to learn without the constant interruption of being sent home for lack of school fees."

Sometimes to get food a day is not easy my husband and I go around on some village dwellers farms help them sell their crops and the profit is given to us. I use this money to buy food for my family to eat, sometimes when there's no crops or contract available we don't eat."

"Financial constraint is the biggest challenge that I am currently facing. Even though I have started a small business, it is only able to provide us with food. Raising school fees for my children and one neighbour that I take care of has become too hard for me.Many times, they have had to be sent home to collect school fees, disrupting their education. I hope I can better handle this when I receive this money to buy a dairy cow and a heard of sheep."
