"The biggest difference in my daily life is payment of school fees for my daughter which was quite a burden for me as I also have other kids in high school. For me through these transfers God made a way for me where there was no way and I am very grateful."

"We are currently facing lots of financial constraints since my husband is repaying some loans that we acquired from local lenders. He is bringing home only a quarter of his salary, something that has forced us to forego some basic needs and demands."

"I live in a single house that is grass thatched with my 7 children. I feel like my husband and I are not getting the privacy that we ought to have because of sharing the same roof with these children. Three of them are above the age of 15 and our culture does not allow parents and grown children to sleep in one house. I also rear chicken that spends the night in the same house and their droppings leave the whole house smelly even after a thorough cleaning. I am a peasant farmer and I depend on my 0.5-acre farm to get income and due to persistent drought plants wither before harvest. I desire to build a spacious house of approximately 32 iron sheets at a cost of KES 29000. Receiving this money will give my family a decent place to call home."

"Lack of a stable source of income is the main challenge that I am facing currently. Have you imagined being a jobless widow with five children to take care of? This is the situation giving me sleepless nights. My main economic activity currently is selling local brew in the village to meet some of the basic needs of my family. This business earns me less than KES 200 a day which is not enough to sustain me and my children. However, since it is the only economic activity I can do, I have no choice but to do it. My ambition is to start a kiosk in the village because there is none at the moment. However, due to lack of enough capital, this has remained a dream for many years. Upon receiving the cash transfers, I will use KES 20000 to start the kiosk business which will help me earn some good profit to pay school fees for my children and meet other basic needs."

"Lack of stable source of income is my greatest challenge. I am the sole breadwinner in my family as my four children and wife depend on me for basic needs such as food, clothing and school fees. Having lost my job in last year May, life has been difficult because I cannot provide wholly for them. I earn KES 150 per day from selling 5 litres of milk where all the money goes into buying food and nothing is left to save. Sometimes I am forced to forego other needs for emergencies such as sickness."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to live in a better and spacious house. The structure that I am currently in is small and doesn't have space to place the second bed for my kids. It only accommodates our small bed, for this reason, I intend to build a two-bedroom Maddy house with twenty thousand Kenya shillings, ten thousand to clear fees balances of my children, and the rest of the money to invest in the small business of selling foodstuffs. This will give me peace of mind."

"The greatest challenge am facing is ill-health. Suffering from hypertension has drained most of my finance.I have not been able to seek better medication services since I do not have money. Three days ago, the blood pressure increased to a level of making me nose-bleed. It were not for a neighbour who took me to hospital I couldnot have lived to see this day."

"As life keeps getting tougher by the day, I feel the need of looking for ways to generate more income for the family. At the moment, my two children and I only depend on my husband. He does provide to the beat of his ability bit the knee he makes from casual jobs is not enough. I would want to start a business in fish. The profit margins are good and with time, we will pull resources and build a spacious house. The one we are in right now is tiny and uncomfortable as we have to cook in there with the traditional cooker. The smoke affects our health."
