People can also hire me to carry their goods for them and this is also bringing me extra cash and i know that my family is secured financialy."

"Our biggest nightmare is lack of money. We are forced to cut natural trees and make charcoal just for us to survive. We realise the importance of trees but we have nothing else to do. We rely on farming but it is not rewarding as it used to be."

"In this compound, my house has been the talk of the day. Every time it rains, the house always get flooded. The roof as you can see is almost falling down because it was constructed in 1994. So when I heard that Give Directly is coming in our village, I just said to myself God works mysteriously. I intend to spend approximately 40000KES to put up a two roomed house. With that house equipped with a bed and a mattress, I must say it will be a new beginning of my life."

"Receiving this money means a better education for my children. I am a single parent depending on livestock keeping as my source of livelihood to raise a family of 9. I have two children in secondary and 5 others in primary school. Raising their school fees single handedly is a challenge to me. They are always sent home to collect the arrears and this affects their performance because they miss out class sessions for several days in a term. I am planning to use KES 50,000 to clear the current arrears and also pay for next academic year. The rest of the amount I will use to purchase a dairy cow so as to increase my income in future."

"Currently, I do sleep in a house that is also used as a cooking place. There is too much smoke and sooth all over. The smoke has been also affecting me, I sometimes cough a lot especially at night. The clothes are also smelling smoke, something that affect my dignity and respect whenever I walk around. This is exactly the reason I have been admiring to own a separate structure where I will be able to sleep peacefully. A two roomed house is enough for me and I plan to use 40000KES to fully finish it."
