"The challenges I'm currently facing now are getting money to pay my son tuition and renovating my house. Although I had a contract with the Ministry of Health as Community Health Assistant (CHA) for five years(5) in March 2017 and ended in March 2021, the money I earned from the job I was doing, I use some to pay my son tuition and used the balance to build two houses, one in this town and one in fish town where my daughter was attended school. When my contract ended my husband and I started making farm to sustain the family but the money we earn from the farm proceeds is not enough to pay my son tuition least to mention of renovating our house. I will appreciate any help from GiveDirectly in order to pay my son tuition and renovate my house."

"I'm a widow living in this community along with my little son. Since I lost my husband approximately some twenty six years ago, I have been living in this town trying to struggle for my children and my self, with the help of other family members and relatives. Things became more difficult for me when I lost my first son in July 2020 because he was the one helping me and his siblings but since he died, everything had turned out to be very difficult. However, if I am successfully enrolled in to Give Directly's Cash transfer program, I want to use some of the money to renovate my house that was built in Jarkaken by my late husband and I when he was alive. I want to renovate the house for my children because I am aging everyday and I believe when the renovation is done, it will help my children when I am no more(dead) especially my last born who is still struggling for education."

"Buying a dairy cow is the biggest difference in my daily life. I used to buy milk and it was so costly for me. I depend on casual jobs in the village and small scale farming. This earns me an income to meet household basic and pay school fees for my children. I didn't had other source of income. I was not able to save some money to purchase a dairy cow. My children would go without milk and this was so demoralizing and stressful. When I received the transfer I felt so happy, I knew I would be able to buy a dairy cow. Currently I get enough milk for the family unlike before. My children does no longer go without milk. I can sell the extra milk to earn an income. I used the income to meet other household needs and save some to pay the school fees. I no longer stress up on where to get the money for milk. I have devoted much of my time on this dairy project. I wished to maintained and improve this to another better level."

"I was born in Jarlaken;I got married and move here to settle with my husband, I came to this town since 1994 and settle here with my family. Living here has been a great challenge for me.The farm work is a very difficult task to do as a female, but I have to inorder to keep my family going. I am tired of the farming work and want to sell, because of my age and the strength in me is gradually declining. Even though it is from the farm we get food, but I want to really do business. Farming work don't give me enough cash to safe; so it can't do what I want to do. Another thing is that I want to complete my house that is under construction and move from in this old house. I live in this house and have given birth to all of my children; I think it's about time that I built a good house for them. These are the two most important things I have on mind that I want to do with this money."

"I have planned all my life that my first achievement is to get a purchase land of my own. The reasons are just simple. I move in this town since 2008,I started doing my mechanic work at the age of ten.I am a school dropped out because of financial constraints my parents were faced with ; I was forced to enter the mechanic shop inorder to help my Father. Years went by and today I am on my own hustling to build my family. I am a father of a girl child. I left my parents and started renting, but every thing I earned is been diverted to rent. So, I discussed with my girlfriend and we plan to purchase a land to enable us build our own house. With this; I know we will be able to save for ourselves and stopped given money to someone every month for rent. Renting is a serious financial challenge a delay of progress in one's life."
