""The lack of a permanent source of income is the greatest challenge I am currently facing.
A permanent source of income is a major challenge because I am a farmer and the income generated from farming is so small to take care of my family. Some times the land becomes so unproductive that I have to engage into palm harvesting just to sustain the family but it doesn't help"."

"Since I moved in this town in 2013, I have been living in my uncle's house because I don't have the financial means to rent or build a place for my family and me.
It is so embarrassing to live in another man's house with your family as a grown up man.
When I receive any grant from Give Directly, I will use portion of the money to build a house for my family and use the remaining balance to send my children to school.
Right now my children are at risk of being thrown out of school because I have not paid their tuition yet"."

Isaac
received an initial payment.
"Through the transfer that I received, I was able to pay my children's school fees. I was also able to buy zinc for my house roof. Since I received my transfer, there has been a lot of changes in my daily life. I feel relieved from school fees payment and no more worry about the rainy season because my house is now going to be covered with zinc. Thank God for GiveDirectly. I really do appreciate GiveDirectly coming to this community."

Richard
received a $267 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life since I started recieving payments from GiveDirectly is that, with the transfer, I was able to pay my son's balance school fees. The school's administration no longer put my son out for balance fees. As seen this my house is in deplorable condition and due to my age I am unable now to always travel longer distance to cut thatch to replace the old ones. Now with the zinc, I will not have to cut thatch everytime for my house. I am so so happy for this one time life changing opportunity and I am going to make a better use of it for my household."
