Stephen
received a $498 initial payment.
"Working with a diesel-powered power saw has been an interesting experience to me as it has always been the main source of income for my family of five. I had been hiring it out at times but in most cases, many people have been paying for my services whenever they have some trees to cut down. On receiving the first transfer, I spent KES34000 on paying school fees for my three children - two in college and one currently in secondary school. I needed to clear the pending sum so that they may end their semesters without being sent home. With the remaining KES20000, I obtained a plastic tank that is currently useful in collecting rainwater from the roof. This has saved me the cost and time of collecting water every day from the stream three kilometers away from home."

Joseph
received a $499 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life after receiving the first transfer is the availability of clean water after several days of heavy rains. I had been able to collect a lot as I directed all the rainwater from the roofs to the tank strategically placed at my doorstep. I am glad that the money I had been paying to be supplied with some liters of water can now be spent to serve other household needs."

Selina
received a $499 initial payment.
"The biggest difference in my daily life is that through the transfers, I was able to acquire a huge capacity water tank of 300litres. I have been longing to have it for years but I couldn't afford it because it was very expensive. has really changed my life. I consider this the best gift in my life becasue buying water every day from the dams is relatively expensive and very far (5KM) away from the village. I could always complain of back pains as a result of the several trips to and from the dams. I am now happy becasue I will no longer have to strain instead I will be harvesting the rainy water and store them for future use. In addition, because the water here is in high demand in my village, I can sell it to my neighbors at a small fee as another source of income. The money will empower me to cater to other household neds in good time."
