"Currently, I am living on a fifth of an acre that I have constructed a new house on and brought in a dairy cow that occupies almost the whole of the existing piece after receiving the transfers. At the moment, I am making plans to buy another piece of land as a new goal is certain to happen in the future. I am looking forward to doubling my efforts on farming, casual labor, and also in the small milk selling business, I had been doing to realize the dream. I am glad that I was able to address most of the challenges I had with both the transfers that I received and that the initiative to save is even easier now."

"We spent KES 20000 of our recent transfer on buying a heifer. We decided to buy one so that it can help us in the future when it calves. We will be able to get milk for our consumption and we can sell some. We didn't have a cow and hence we usually buy a liter of milk every day at KES 50. Other than that, we also spent KES 17000 on buying a water tank. We bought the tank so that we could collect rainwater for our household use. We usually go to the river to fetch water and at times we do not get time in the evening for fetching the water. My children usually get home late from school and I usually go to the market to sell maize. We are thus glad because we now have enough water for use at our disposal since it has rained. We also spent KES 8000 on paying school fees for two of our children, and with the remaining transfer amount, we used it on buying food, clothes, and solar lamps for our children to use when studying at night. We are hence so much grateful to GiveDirectly for their help."

"I inherited a single grass-thatched house from my brother in 2018 after he relocated to another village. This house is however small and old now that I feel I have to improve it since it is not of my calibre at the moment. I have been yearning to construct a 2 roomed iron-roofed house that will serve as the living and bedroom but unfortunately, finances could not allow me. When I receive these transfers I intend to use KES 30000 to accomplish this task thus I will be happy that my dream of a comfortable house will come to pass. I will use the rest of the transfers towards purchasing a dairy cow and setting up a chicken business."

"I had an eye problem as a result of being hit by a stick while I was attending to my cows. This subjected me to pain for a period because I was unable to raise money for my medication. This was a period that I persevered for about 2 months. When I received the transfer, I prioritized seeking medication. At first I had difficulty seeing but now I am feeling better. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for coming to my aid when I was really in need."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to purchase a dairy cow. In our village, there is a milk cooling plant and it is a good business opportunity since I will be selling the milk I got to that cooler. I am gland that I will have a stable source of income for my family. So when I receive this transfer I will spend KES KES 40000 to purchase a cow that is almost calving. This is because I will not have to wait for long to calve and for the remaining amount I purchase food items for my family."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to purchase a dairy cow. In our culture, we value cows for milk and as a source of income. I am a casual laborer and purchasing milk has been a challenge since my earnings are not sufficient to meet all my household needs. So when I receive this transfer I will spend KES 25000 to purchase a dairy cow. This cow will give us milk when it calves and even sells the surplus to generate income. I am glad that I live near a milk cooperative where I will be selling my milk."

"Receiving this money will lower my struggles. First, I have been going through a lot of hardships to pay for my daughter's school fees amounting to KES 25,000 a year. She is set to join form four and I currently do not have money. Give Directly's transfer will really help me out and I am much grateful for such a noble move. Secondly I have been yearning to buy a dairy cow to help me feed my children, grandchildren and other relatives in my household. This is a great chance to actualize my dream."

"When I receive this money I will prioritize KES 30,000 for buying a dairy cow. This will guarantee my family a stable income in the future through the production and sale of milk. Milk is in high demand in our region. Apart from milk, our area is favorable for livestock production. Having this cow is also my stepping stone to venture into livestock production. To avoid the continuous headache of finding school fees for my two children, I will plan KES 40,000 to pay fees for my sons at Kapkelei Technical Institute and Londiani Kenya forest institute. Through this, we will be exempted from the continuous run of finding schools free for our children. Our main house is old making it expensive for us to maintain. With this money, I will set aside KES 20,000 to renovate my house and avoid the struggle of constant maintenance. This will make us feel happy."

"I am old and staying alone. My health is also failing me, I had a chest problem that has persisted for a long and it has rendered me inactive. I live in a mud-walled house and smearing it is a challenge as a result, it is so dilapidated and in a bad state. It worries me a lot. Now that this transfer is coming I intend to use KES 20000 to remove the mud wall and replace it with timber. I plan to use the remaining amount to buy a dairy cow. Receiving this money means I will be in a position to build a decent house for my family."
