"As a farmer the hardships I experience are mainly due to the frequent dry climatic conditions.During the dry season I face a lot of challenges. One is lack of clean water for domestic use and also for the cattle.I am usually forced to go and fetch water 5 km away.I carry using my back or pay for motorcycle transport (Ksh 50) per trip. This is usually very costly. The second challenge during the dry season is lack of feeds for the cattle and little harvest. At the end of it our income is limited and satisfying the family's basic needs becomes a big challenge."

"I intend to spend the money for buying a motor cycle. Iam currently ridding a motorcycle which is old and most of the time keeps on getting spoilt. The money spent on it's repairing is much than what I receive a day hence Iam unable to save any things for providing other neccessities at home. The plan is to buy another new one which may be cost effective to maintain such that I will be able to save some money for sustaining my family." (Occupation: Motorcycle or bicycle taxi)

"I had longed to build a toilet for my household but due to insufficient resources, I could not manage. We were using the bushes for open defecation because I could not access the toilet. When I received the transfer, I purchased enough building materials to facilitate this. I also paid the full cost of the labour involved. Having the toilet is the biggest difference because previously I was using the bushes which were exposing us to the risk of waterborne diseases." (Occupation: Motorcycle or bicycle taxi)
