How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is different from how it would have been in the last four months in that I have two goats. I bought the goats as investment and savings for the transfers. I can sell the goats whenever I have a financial emergency and I do not borrow money anymore. When they reproduce, the number will increase which is also an investment and a sign of wealth for me.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to expand my business. I would want to have improved profits from the business. This is because, from the profits, I will be able to meet all my needs with ease.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these transfers is that I have a business which is my main source of income. I used part of my transfers to start a cloth business by buying stock bit by bit and now my business is doing quite well. The profits have increased which has increased my income in turn. I do not struggle anymore and I am glad as a result, my family is doing well. We meet our needs in time unlike before the transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that boost the business by having a premise in the market place. This will help me serve my customers well and reach out to many hence improving on my income.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Within the past few months, I have managed to invest in goats that I would not have managed to buy without GD. I have also managed to set up two businesses which now support me financially and I am no longer as anxious about the end of the project as I was months ago when I still had no business.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I currently have two businesses and I aim at starting the third one on clothes so that I can leave the other ones to my mother to run in the comfort of her house while I move around different markets selling the clothes. We have gotten used to receiving money every month from Give Directly, and the thought of it ending will break our hearts especially if we do not have any stable income by the time it ends. This, therefore, is the main reason why I want to struggle to have a sufficient flow of income so that when the project ends we will not get frustrated.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Before I had thought of starting a business using GD transfers, I depended on casual domestic jobs which were not quite available. These jobs were very hectic yet earned very little, so I had quite a challenge providing for my elderly mother and taking care of my own personal needs. Within the past four months, I have managed to set up two business which now provide me with a stable income and I can now comfortably provide for my family.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Early on at the beginning of this project, I saved some of my transfers which I wanted to use to buy a heifer which was not possible because I would use some of my savings. To avoid sabotaging my own plans, I decided to buy goats which have now multiplied into six. My plan is to have them grow for a while longer so that I can later sell them off and raise the money required to buy the heifer. I hope that in six months time, I will have the heifer that has always been my greatest desire to own.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Right now I can say that I have enough money to buy food for my family very comfortably as opposed to how I used to face challenges in terms of providing a balanced diet for my kids. In a human beings life, getting enough food to eat is an important thing that and a lack of it can always lead to a miserable life.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have an idea of building a new shop within my compound so that I officially launch my business and earn something from the shop business. I have tried doing this business in the past albeit in a small portion and even today I still have a few items that I normally sell to customers who come to buy them from my house. Once I have the shop running, I know I will attract customers more customers who will be buying from me and that means that I will be generating more profit.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have been buying a few goats every single month when I get the transfers from GD. Recently I sold out a few of the goats and bought a calf using the proceeds realized from the sale of the goats. This calf will definitely grow with time and eventually when it becomes an adult it will give birth to other calves meaning that their population will be increasing.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My long term goal involves starting a small scale business of selling second hand clothes which I will be buying in bulk from Nairobi city and later re-selling them within this locality at some profits. I have a sister who has been doing this business and from how I see her do her things, I can tell that she makes a lot of money because she started out with just a few items but today she sells her goods in huge bulk. I want to start off this business so that I can become self-reliant and self -employed so that I stop doing these odd jobs like washing clothes for people in exchange of a few coins which barely sustains my family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.

How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will change because I will be able to expand my business and make more money that basically translates to a more stable economic life in the future. I want to make sure that by the time the organization stops sending me cash, I should be able to keep myself going.
