How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been because I have a spacious house now to accommodate my family. This brings me happiness. Before, it was an awful situation of sharing one single hut with all the children.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well giving me money that has enabled me to build an iron sheet roofed house, acquire household items like utensils, mattresses, pay school fees. I don't see anything it hasn't done well in my opinion.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My second transfer was spent to buy a bull and to pay school fees. I also bought a mattress, and the balance is being saved.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I am constructing a spacious house which is currently at the ring beam level. Before I received the cash transfer, I was leading a miserable and uncomfortable life. We were living in a small congested hut. I had no money to enable me construct a good spacious house. The cash transfer has relieved me from this misery.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received a message at night but could not read it. However, I woke up early and asked my helper to read for me the mobile money message. When I heard the news, I was very happy because this cash transfer was going to help me construct a house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my cash transfer to purchase bricks worth UGX 800000. I also spent UGX 700000 to purchase iron sheets, nails, and timber. The balance of UGX 200000 I plan to spend it on paying the builders.
