How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Although I have not yet started building my commercial house, I see a great change in my life as I will be having a reliable source of income when I start renting it off. This will help me to supplement my existing restaurant income to see to it that my children get a better life, and education. In addition to this, my life has changed in that I was able to renovate my already existing house. It now looks very beautiful. Before, the house was very unpleasant as it was not plastered, cemented, had no windows and no proper door.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly in my opinion has done well by giving me a lot of happiness through the money they gave me. However, there is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to pay people who helped me cut down a tree that I will use for timber. I also bought a wheelbarrow that I will use to help me in the consruction work. I then paid some money to labors that helped me weed my g.nuts garden. I am saving up the balance Ugx 1350000 that I plan to use to set up another house for commercial basis.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My daily life has changed for the better in that, I have been in position to plaster and build a veranda for my house which has made me very happy. In addition, I have bought bricks that I'm to use for building a rental house soon. Prior to receiving this transfer, I slept in a dusty house and I didn't have hope of plastering it because I had no money to buy materials and pay labour.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When my phone rung at around 12:31 AM, I checked and found that GiveDirectly had sent me the transfer. I became very happy because my plan to finish my house was going to be accomplished.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to purchase 3 trips of bricks at UGX 795,000, 10 bags of cement at UGX 280,000, 2 trips of sand at UGX 200,000, construction Labour at UGX 160,000 and food at UGX 15,000. I have not yet spent UGX 250,00 but I am planning to send it to pay construction labour.
